Hard lump under chin

Hi

I'm Elizabeth, I'm 28

I noticed a hard lump under my chin (near the start of my neck  at the front) about 5 days ago. This came up very suddenly and doesn't move when touching it. It doesn't hurt but can feel slightly tender when I stretch my neck. I'm really worried as it's a hard lump and doesn't move. I have felt slightly out of breath today which is not normal for me. I was just looking for advice really.

Thanks

  • Hi

I have had a lump like this for 8days now and I made contact with my GP on day 6... I was told to wait until day 21 until I contact again. The dr asked if there was any family history of cancer and there is my mum, grandparents, great grandparents, etc.  My anxiety is taking a beating and everyday I wake up counting what number day I’m on. It was not gone down in size and I’ve not been unwell at all. It feels the size of a ping pong ball and is noticeable to others. I’m so down and so worried that my mood/feeling of paranoia is affecting my two young girls.

I do hope that you have a good outcome from your situation but I guess I came to your thread to seek advice too!

    Fingers crossed!

  • Hiya,

I've seen your post on this thread, why has the GP told you to wait 21 days ! That is terrible ! I would demand to be seen... that is not right of them.

I hope your ok.. ring the surgery again and demand another drs judgement xx

  • Try not to stress too much , lumps in the neck can be multiple things and not life threatening. But for the sake of your anxiety etc keep pushing for more help from the dr xx

  • The dr said that if the lump is nothing sinister then it will

have gone within the 21days but I do feel like it should be at least seen before that! I will have to make another call I think I just can't sleep properly without feeling sick with worry.

thank you for your concern and care!

  • I understand and pray that it goes away for you, I just think that it's unfair for the dr to do that without even putting you forward for further investigation. Plus your worrying yourself sick so they need to sort it out for you. Definetely call them back tomorrow and tell them your concerns, you have every right to do so. Wishing you all the best and hope everything's ok for you xx keep us posted xx

  • Thank you.

Yes I will insist on a dr at least seeing it as soon as they can as I'm so very concerned. With the family history too!!

    Please do all keep healthy

  • Hi guys I'm going through the same thing with two lymph nodes that are soild under my chin in the middle I tryed ringing doctors too and there also telling me to wait I roughly got them the same time as you keep me updated to please I'm worried cos I'm feeling like Ill with it like dizziness and can't breathe aswell I'm 29 and my body feels likes it's going down hill I hope your both ok it's scary to know what's around the corner x

  • Hiya. I'm 19 years old and Ive got the exact same problem. I found a lump, slightly to the left, right underneath my chin. I found it almost 2 years ago. Ive been to the doctors since and he said "I'm too young to have cancer". So I sort of pushed it to the back of my mind until recently it grew to the size of a ping pong ball whilst I had a cold. It has since shrunk again, but is still very clearly there.
it doesn't move and is solid.
please also keep me updated on your situation because I am petrified.

  • Im seeing a head a neck Doctor next Tuesday so I will let you know they gave me some antibiotics to see if it would go at first but nothing happend and had my bloods taken a few days ago I will let you know how it goes
