Hi,
I'm so scared and just wanted to share In a group where people will understand.
During a bowel CT scan they incidentally found a 9mm (approx) lung nodule so I was sent for a chest CT with contrast last week. This confirmed a nodule in my lower left lung. I've just had a call from the respiratory dept. advising I need to go back for a PET scan. The secretary who called couldn't tell me why but said I will get an appointment in the next few days.
All of this just makes me think the nodule is malignant and I'm so, so frightened.
The odds that it's something nasty seemed to be stacked against me as I'm a 54 year old smoker and my father and grandmother both died of lung cancer.
I know nobody can 100% tell me if it's good or bad and I know it's just another awful waiting game but just wanted to ask of others experiences and whether a PET scan always means the consultant thinks it's something nasty?
I have no symptoms at all and as I said, the nodule was found by fluke in a bowel CT scan
