Core needle biopsy

Good evening, so I noticed  a change in one of my breasts and the gp saw me. She said she felt something so referred me to the breast clinic. Fast forward a week and today I've been and had my appt , the consultant marked what I pointed out as he felt something too along with another "lump". Mammogram and scan done The lady said they looked fine . I went back in to see the consultant expecting to be told I could go home but he wanted to re examine me and performed a core needle biopsy whilst I was there. Has anyone any advice etc on why he would do a second examination and the biopsy if the scan etc showed ok ? Thankyou for reading.

  • Hello Hendyhen,

I'm sorry to hear they found a lump in your breast that required a second examination. It's easy to understand why this might be worrying you and I hope others that have gone through the same procedure will come along soon to chat with you and share their experiences.

If you feel that speaking to one of our nurses and asking this question before you have a chance to see your consultant again, feel free to give them a ring on this phone number 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

    All the best,
