Polyp removed

Hi everyone.

I have just had a 3mm polyp removed from my colon along with 3 biopsies. How worried should I be as I made the mistake of going to Google to be diagnosed!

Thank you in advance.

  • Hello PhilipT,

There's no way of knowing until you are able to discuss the results of the biopsy with your doctor. As I'm sure you know, it can be tempting to look for answers on an online, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better. And the only person that can diagnose you is your doctor. There are some tips here that can help put these worries out of your mind.

    I hope this is helpful,

  • 3 years ago I had a 6mm sessile polyp removed. On diagnosis they took biopsies & I was then sent for an MRI scan the next day. All non cancerous. They sent my polyp to be looked at & it was showing sign of villainous changes. So eventually would of become cancerous. Polyp take years to turn & they believe I had mine for over 10 years. They are just following procedure. Try not to worry. Do not Google. I did that & drove myself sick with worry. Easier said than done though
