Symptoms of ovarian cancer?

Hi all

Thank you for reading my post.

I'm concerned as I think I have symptoms of ovarian cancer. I'm often bloated before, during and after my period, then during ovulation and then just before my period again.. so a lot of the month I'm so painful bloated and feel huge down there.

Over the past few months I also have the often urge to wee. It feels urgent even if I've just been. I was treated for a uti with antibiotics but I feel the same.

There are a few other things as well :( I always have a dull pain below my belly button and I wake up in the night to use the toilet.

Whenever I call the doctor it's really chaotic and I get really anxious because the receptionists seem really annoyed. I always get a different doctor because of the situation and it's obviously busy and stressful.

I understand it's likely to be something else but I'm worried and needed to tell anyone.

Thank you

  • Hi,

I'm new to this site but am waiting for a confirmation diagnosis of ovarian cancer and like you am worried about sick.

All i can say to you is be persistent with your doctor's surgery. Gather together all your information on symptoms, visits and any test results and insist on an appointment with a doctor. Think over what you want to say before you speak to the doctor, so you don't waste time. Also have your questions ready. Hopefully they will order a blood test, if not ask for one. Tell them your fear of it being cancer. Can i also commend you for noticing these symptoms and going early to see about them. Wish I'd done the same. It's probably not cancer but always best to check.

Good luck and remember if you're not happy keep pushing for another appointment. I'm lucky my doctor has been so quick on tests and referral though probably too late now for any good to come of it. Xx

  • Hi there

Thank you so much for your reply.

That's really good advice. I'll write everything down because I get a bit panicked on the phone to the doctor and I always rush and don't end up saying what I want.

The worry is awful, I'm so sorry you're worried sick too.

Don't be too harsh on yourself about not going to the doctors sooner. It's difficult and I find it easier to just decide it's nothing and I'll delay ringing. Thank you again for advice and I really hope everything goes okay with you xx
