Vacuum Assisted Biopsy

Hello ladies. I hope that everyone is staying safe and feeling at least OK.

Have had an interesting experience this week. I am Beccy, 41. My boobs have always been really uncomfortable after ovulation, so used to the pain. However about a month ago, my daughter clamboured over me (as 5 year olds do) and it felt sharply painful just under my areola. I have always had lumpy boobs, but when I felt this it was 'different'. Not a lump, just different. Left it for 3 weeks to see if it would go away and it sort of did, but was still bothering me. Spoke to the GP nad she gave me a 2 week referal, which was brilliant. Stages after that were as follows;

- Breast clinic referal

-Mamogram (clear)

-Ultrasound - found a mass. Core needle Bipopsy - mass colapsed so likely a complex cyst (yay). Biopsy sent anyway (must have looked a bit dodgy)

- Results. Waffle waffle. Found a papiloma. Categorised as B3. Need a vacuum assisted biopsy now. 'probably' benign.

- I google procedure.

-cry a lot. Scared more of the procedure than anything else x

Does anyone else have experience with these sort of shenanigans?

Love to you all Sisters xxxx

  • Hello Beccy

    I'm sorry to hear about all you've been through and that you're feeling so worried ahead of your next biopsy. Unfortunately using Google to search for information often leads people to feel more anxious.

    We do have some information on our website here which may be of help but I'd really recommend giving our team of nurses a call next week. I'm sure that talking things through with them will help you to feel more reassured and confident ahead of your appointment. If you'd like to chat with them they're available Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

    I hope all goes smoothly. Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you very much. I will do that. Dr Google was not my friend this week.
