FIT test and other results anxiety

Hi all,

I had an abscess in November and contacted the doctor as I had some pain a few weeks after it cleared up. The doctor was relatively unconcerned about that. I had mentioned that I had loose stools for a while and noticed a tiny bit of blood on a couple of occasions, thinking it might be piles.

I have also had a low grade fever for weeks (not Covid I've been tested). He said he wanted to do tests for IBD and cancer. I have had a FIT test, a different stool test and a blood test over the last two weeks.

I have just had a telephone appointment booked in with the GP for Monday. In your experience do you think they would book an appointment if it was negative or would they call straight away to get it off their pile of work?

Any experiences you have had would be appreciated as I hate being completely in the dark about what could happen.

Thanks

Kenny

  • Hello Bigkenny,

It's difficult to say why this telephone appointment has been booked for Monday and whether it means anything in particular. Try not to draw any conclusions or to anticipate what it might all mean. The best thing to do is to try not to google anything before you speak to the doctor on Monday. It won't be long now until you have some much needed definite answers. Waiting even for a couple of days to talk to someone can feel like a lifetime so I would suggest you just keep distracted and focused on other things over the weekend if you can.

I hope that you will hear from others on the forum who have had similar experiences and been through this before.

I am keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine and that everything goes well on Monday.

    Best wishes,
