Ultrasound results

Hello, I'm sorry if I keep posting and annoying anyone.

I had my ultrasound on Monday for the lump in my neck, waiting for the results is making my anxiety go through the roof! I'm terrified something is seriously wrong. I'm pretty certain it's serious as I have had other symptoms alongside this, swollen red tonsil. Sore on my tongue that isn't painful anymore. That part of my tongue is also dry. I really need some hope that everything is going to be ok because I am going out of my mind! I have lost just over a stone in weight since September despite eating well still. Even though my doctor and dentist aren't concerned about anything in my mouth I just feel like they are wrong. I know they are professionals and can pick these things up easily and quickly but what if it is something serious. I have 3 young children and I don't want to die and leave them behind :( all I keep doing is crying and worrying. It makes me feel physically sick, I had bloods done back in November which were clear, and I'm having another lot done tomorrow, FBC and diabetes test. Part of me is hoping that I have diabetes and not cancer just because I am absolutely terrified of cancer. I'm sorry for al those that have had their diagnosis and I'm sorry for the long post I just didn't know what else to do.

  • I agree the lockdown is not helping!! Oh your still quite young. I am the same only suffer with the anxiety worrying I have cancer. It's good that you are seeing your doctor about these problems, they will be able to reassure you. I had my ultrasound on Monday 18th, and my results back Friday 29th, but I called the doctors to receive these results. Just remember everyone's waiting time for their results vary so try not to stress xx

  • Morning,

I called the doctors and mentioned my neck symptoms - she said it sounds like a minor infection. Still booked for 3:30pm today as I'm unsure as I have no other symptoms of infection. I didn't mention my bowel symptoms as I forgot but I'll bring it up in the appointment. Thankyou for helping, I'll let you know what I'm told. May I ask what makes you think you have tongue cancer? x

  • Morning,

that's good that you have an appointment today, hopefully a step closer to knowing what is going on. Yes do bring it up with the doctor, but as you are young I'm sure it's all going to be just fine. Good luck and come back to let us know how you get on.

Of course, I have very odd sensations on one part of my tongue, tingling/burning, dry tongue. I'm sure I can also see a small red lesion on the side of my tongue but apparently nobody else can see it professionally. I saw another doctor yesterday who I am not very keen on, spent less than 2 minutes in his office, he looked at my tongue from a distance with a torch, said everything looks normal and to basically deal with the sensations! My brother pointed out that I have seen 2 doctors and the dentist 3 times who have all said it looks fine and maybe that is just a part of my tongue. It's just so frustrating though having this abnormal sensations in my mouth! Just trying not to think too much over it but anxiety gets the better of me x

  • health anxiety can sometimes make us feel we're experiencing symptoms we're not, i would push for some type of scan definitely if it makes you feel better but i'd say it's nothing to worry about if 5 professionals think it isn't. it is a pain when it's a doctor your not keen on, i either feel like i'm being dramatic or wasting their time. Thankyou, I'll let you know how I got on when I'm back.

  • Yes health anxiety does do that! I am going to give it another week or two and see how I get on! Just based on what ur saying too, 5 professionals surely one would pick up on something. Just hate having these sensations in my mouth it's just odd haha. I feel exactly like that too! How did your appointment go?

  • Hi,

I've just got back, she thinks the bowel problems are from when I had constipation at the end of December and to come back if it doesn't clear up and that the lumps are a reaction to mild glandular fever but i just don't know where I would've got that from :( she said she isn't concerned but told me to book a blood appointment and they were booked until the 1st March which I took but I don't think the doctor knew that and it's worrying me because that's so long to wait if it could be something dangerous.

  • Yes the tongue sensations do sound weird, let us know how it is after a week or two

  • Oh that's a bit pants, fingers crossed it eases off for you soon with your bowel issues. Is there not anywhere else you can book in for bloods? We have a few places we can choose from so I managed to book mine within days, it is a long time to wait. And the waiting is very hard. Especially when you are worried. I hope it all turns out to be nothing for you.

I will do, my sensations have hardly been there today but I think becuase my throat hurts it's taken my mind off it, aslong as it has nothing to do with the problem(not a good way of thinking).

  • Hi,

Sorry for the late reply. I just decided to suck it up and wait as I didn't see much of another option. I was going fine until a few days ago - I've started feeling light headed and cant stop yawning even after good sleep although that is a sign of glandular fever. Bowel problems and lumps have eased off a bit but still a bit concerned. I was just wondering as the blood test is booked in for glandular fever will it test for blood cells as say if it isn't glandular fever according to the test I was wondering what would happen then or would they already identify something else?

How's your tongue problems now, hope it's better for you.

  • Hi that's ok, not everyone can sit on these forums like I do, waiting for someone to tell me that my issue is the same as theirs and it's going to be fine haha.

glad to hear some of your problems have started to ease. Not so good you are still feeling a bit under the weather. Not long until your blood test, have you tried to call daily to see if there are any cancellations to get you in sooner? I'm sure when th do blood tests they do a full blood count too, well my doctors always does a full check and thankfully they all seem to come back clear, still doesn't ease my mind.

my tongue problems... well I thought it was getting better and I had a really good day the other day. Now it's creeping back in, like I feel like there's a lump at the back but Iv shown my sister and she doesn't seem to think anything is wrong and both sides of my tongue look the same! I have another phone appointment with the doctor in the morning and just see where I go from there. Yesterday I had major sore throat and white specks on my tonsils. Today they have gone and sore throat is minimal. Can't seem to stop worrying something is wrong!
