White Cell Count

Hi,

I had some blood tests done at my doctors yesterday and I've been referred to a Haematologist abd have an appointment in 4 days to review my results.  My white cell count is 48, my doctor has said it's concerningly high.  I've tried to do some research but I'm struggling there is so much information available I don't know what to look at!

Has anyone else ever had a high white cell count? If so if you don't mind sharing what it was and if you were diagnosed with Leukaemia?

Thank you.

  • Hello yorkiesara

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been referred to a Haematologist following some abnormal blood results. I know that many of our members here will understand how difficult this period of time can be waiting for appointments, tests and results. It's natural that the uncertainty can leave you feeling concerned.

I'd suggest giving google a wide berth for the moment. Unfortunately, you won't necessarily find helpful information and more often than not it leaves people feeling more anxious that before.

If you'd like to speak to one of our team of nurses about your concerns you're most welcome to give them a call. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that you don't have to wait too long for your appointment.

    Best wishes,
