I got all of my results at a follow-up appointment. The breast clinic in my city is a one-stop-shop, so I had an ultrasound, several mammograms (I'm quite young and apparently have "dense breasts" so they had to do a couple to get good pictures), and a biopsy. They gave me an appointment for 10 days later. Cancer care, including looking at results and making an official diagnosis and deciding treatment, is done by a multidisciplinary team (surgeon, radiologist, pathologist, breast care nurses, oncologists, etc...) so they have to look at all the results together in a weekly meeting.

I was told the day of my initial appointment that it might be cancer as there were some abnormalities, and then it was unfortunately confirmed by the surgeon at my follow-up appointment. My appointments were in person - I think they don't want to send results out in the post because they want to be able to answer questions!

I guess I am really impatient. Ten days seems an awful lot, but you are right, alot of things need to be considered
