Breast lump and lymph node

Hi, I'm new to the site but I recently (2w) found a hard breast lump in my right breast - I'm 21 so i wasn't too worried. I was refered by my GP to the breast clinic and my appointment is 2 weeks from today.

Today I was stretching my neck and felt a hard lump above my left clavicle (opposite to the side of the breast lump). It is hard and mobile but is very obviously a lymph node. I have two grandparents that have had non-hodgkin's lymphoma.

I don't know whether it's worth contacting my GP about this or waiting for my appointment at the breast clinic?

Any advice from anyone else in this nerve wracking situation would be amazing, I'm really worried about the breast lump and now this!

    Hi H9,

A very warm welcome to our forum. You have done the right thing in getting referred to the breast clinic. If your GP was concerned about this lump above your left clavicle, s/he would likely just refer you to the clinic, so I don't really see any benefit in making another appointment. However don't forget to mention it when you do attend the clinic.

This is always an anxious wait, but here's hoping that nothing untoward is found. Only 1 person in 8 who attend the clinic will get a cancer treatment and, given your age, this is unlikely. Here's hoping that this is just a cyst or something similar.

Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolamine,

Thank you so much for your reply. I'll make sure I tell the doctor at the clinic.

I'm hoping it's just a cyst but I can't help but worry about the alternative, I've just got to try not to think about it.

Thanks again for being so kind xx
