Small lump on neck

Hi all,

I'm just looking for some advice really, im 24 years old, female & I have a small pea sized lump on the left side of my neck. I documented this on the 3rd of December 2020 after thinking it was some sort of bite, slowly it's got a little bigger and harder to touch. I finally plucked up the courage to see my doctor today who wants to keep an eye on it to see if it grows. My family has a lot of history of cancer so I'm extremely anxious and kind of want answers as soon as possible. The thought of having anything serious wrong scares the living daylights out of me due to seeing family members go through it. I haven't long lost my dad to lung cancer so my anxiety is through the roof. Im just wondering if anyone has shared a similar experience or any advice would be greatly appreciated. I haven't told family as I don't want to worry them after all they have lost recently so this is the only place I can find some answers.
thanks for reading xx

  • Hi Dan,

I know having a family history of cancer makes any unexpected lumps and bumps much scarier but it's always good to get any concerns checked out so well done for going to the doctor about this.

I hope, for the moment at least, that your doctor wanting to keep an eye on it will help ease your worries but I'm sure some of our members who have been in a similar situation will offer their support and advice to you soon.

Do keep chatting with us if you find it helps and remember you're not alone.

    Kind regards,
