Hello everyone
1st time post but I have been ready lots over the past few days.
I wondered if anyone had any insight to my husband's situation.
I'll give a brief outline of where we are.
Aug - my husband tells me he is concerned about some lumps in his neck he's had them a while & they haven't gotten smaller sometimes tender to touch. He goes to GP she said they are concerning & refers for an ultrasound & blood test. Other symptoms- difficulty swallowing, strange sensation when arms raised sirw throat on & off. Not 100% himself but able to do excersise & carry on as normal.
He has the ultrasound, has to chase the outcome. He becomes really worried about his symptoms. Different dr reviews the ultrasound & blood over the phone. Seems very unconcerned but notes his lumph nodes are swollen & his inflammatory markers arw slightly raised. He had a tooth issue earlier in the summer so we thought the blood results could be due to that. Dr refers to ENT to investigate.
This referal gets lost & there is a delay in him being seen. He finally gets seen start of Dec. The consultant really prods his neck lumps, declares he doesn't think they are anything to worry about & orders CT & further bloods to be sure. He also prescribes antibiotics to see if this changes anything.
He takes the 10 course of antibiotics & we are sure the lumps are smaller. The day after the antibiotics are finished he is in a fair amount of discomfort in his neck & his lump is very prominent again.
24th Dec he has ct.
Last Tuesday he was called in to discuss the results & the consultant said the CT indicated lymphoma but he needed a biopsy to be sure. He said him & 3 radiographers had seen the images & agreed they are suspicious. He asked what else it could be he said TB or an infection but he made it clear he thought he was looking at lymphoma. Biopsy was taken Friday.
He has not had a 'scope' yet.
His difficulty swallowing has gone as has his sore throat. He also doesn't have a strange sensation when he lifts his arms. He has had the odd (maybe 3) nights of being sweaty but not to the point the sheets needed to be changed but enough to wake him.
My question is really can they see so much on a CT scan? I am confused about the period of antibiotics & that other symptoms have gone? Can this happen?
Anyone else had any experience if this we are so worried with 3 small children we need answers.
