Feeling worried advice please

Hi I am new here,

I've had a GP appointment today as I found a round hard lump under my right breast few weeks ago, the gp said I will Need to be referred to breast clinic as I'm 30 but doesnt think it's attached. What does this mean?

Has anyone else experienced the same?

The GP said it will be about 3 weeks before they contact me.

Any help or advice you can give me would be much appreciated I feel so worried

Thanks xx

  • Hello Stacey54

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently found a breast lump. I know how worrying this can be and it's understandable that you're feeling concerned about things.

It's very common for women to have breast lumps and indeed the majority of women who attend breast clinic aren't diagnosed with cancer. However, it is important to get these things checked just to be safe.

It's possible that the clinic you attend may be a one-stop clinic where the Consultant will examine you and you'll have an ultrasound on the same day. Typically younger women have more dense breast tissue so it's possible that you may not have a mammogram due to your age.

It can really help to talk things through with someone so I'd suggest giving our team of nurses a call. I'm sure they will be able to give you some information and support that will help you ahead of your appointment. If you'd like to speak to them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
