Mole biopsy extremely large deep incision

Hi. So I was worried about a mole I had and went to the doctors last week. They agreed it looked concerning and sent photos to the hospital. Within a few days the doctor rang saying the hospital wanted to see me ASAP.
so I went in the following day and a dermatologist checked the mole and said he wanted to arrange for it to be removed that day. Managed to squeeze me in and low and behold I was laid there getting the mole removed.
I have previously had a mole removed from my stomach which was about 3mm and the incision was around a cm. this mole is on my calf and the same was around 3mm but the incision is around 3-4 inches and very deep.
the doctors were very nice and said the wound is deep so don't exercise for 4 weeks etc

but now I'm extremely concerned at the turnaround (whilst I'm not complaining  though) and also the size and depth of the incision.
they gave me no indication as to whether they suspected anything or if the mole looked cancerous.
so I'm just wondering has anyone else had a similar situation as the wait is now going to be agonising as I have a nagging suspicion that it looked dodgy and that's why they took extra large margins to be on the safe side x

  • Hello Sandyshell33

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently needed to have a suspicious mole removed. Sometimes when things happen so quickly, as they have for you, it can leave you feeling more anxious and concerned about things.

Did the Consultant give you any idea how long you would have to wait for the results? I do hope that it's not too long. We know that for many people this period of waiting for results can be particularly difficult and it's natural to feel anxious. It can help to talk to someone. If you'd like to chat to one of our team of nurses you're most welcome to give them a call. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
