Lump and pain

Hi,

I found a big breast lump start of dec, it's on front of breast at top on inside. Went gp who could feel it and sent me for X-ray thought was a bone of some sort she said it was very strange and she don't know what is . Xray showed wasn't a bone. To be referred to breast clinic , I'm 28 and they gave me a 12 week wait, because of my age. I pushed to be seen sooner and now it's a 6 week one. Last two days the nipple on that breast is hurting me , stinging and I'm freaking out I 100% in my head think it's cancer now , I guess I'm hoping someone had similar and what the outcome was x

  • As far I'm know the doc will check the breast himself, take your medical history ur family ect. Then a ultrasound if somethings shows up. Then a biopsy mammogram and some other tests.

It's very hard with the smallies, but fingers crossed for all of us it's nothing to

    Hi Koko,

I am so sorry to hear about your symptoms and the problems you are having in getting seen. This is always a worrying time and you are doing the right thing by insisting. Unfortunately, just because you are young does not mean that you are immune from this terrible disease. There are a number of other, less scary reasons for lumps, especially in younger people, so here's hoping that this will be so with you. It is also a fact that pain does not usually accompany a positive diagnosis.

Even if the worse comes to the worst I can assure you that breast cancer is eminently treatable in most cases. I felt like you when I was first diagnosed with two young children. It is only natural that we go into blind panic mode. I have had two bouts in the past 11 years and am currently undergoing tests for a third bout, but I am still living a busy and fulfilling life.

Only 1 person in every 8 referred gets a cancer diagnosis, so I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Noelle,

I am glad to hear that you have pushed for an appointment to be seen and, hope that it comes through soon. This is such a worrying time, particularly when you have family to think about. Please see my post to Koko. Hopefully, you can take some solace from these facts too.

We look forward to hearing from you, once you know what the situation is. In the meantime, try to keep yourself busy to distract yourself from the wait and, whatever you do, stay clear of the internet. Remember, that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hello Jolamaie,

Thank you for your very kind words.

Were just hoping for the best outcome and if not I'll give it a very try.  It's reassuring to hear your success with your story.   I wish you all the best with the upcoming tests. Please keep us posted.

  • Hi. i know what its like. they see our age and just go... NOPE. I was referred last march. 2 lumps each breast and dimples in the left.  i had to get PALS and an mp involved. finally have an appointment on Tuesday for an ultrasound.... it took 10 months. we did look at going private but it was going to cost £480 just to see a consultant and have an ultrasound

    Hi Noelle,

Do your best to stay positive meanwhile. I'll certainly let you know the outcome of my tests when they come through. I notice that you mention a private chat facility. This forum does have one. You will find details of how to use it under the title 'Help using our forum' on the left of this page.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
