Im actually in Ireland I was Googling at this forum came up , didn't even realise was UK till while after every thing is "my age " even my insurance won't cover me for consultation cause of my age apparently at 28 you can't get cancer  . I'm ringing GP back Monday , the pain in freaking me out

I found a lump on my left breast 4 days ago and went to my gp I was be referred to the breast clinic but was told I would be waiting 6 weeks.  So I've decided to go private.  I had a sharp pain back in august but the dr couldn't find a lump.  Yesterday I had a pain in my breast and a burning sensation last night.  

Every woman should be seen as soon as doesn't matter what age the person is. There should not be a wait especially for 12 weeks!  My advice to you is if you can go private.  

I'll keep you in my thoughts

I went private too, have a app for second week in feb, GP said I'd be seen public she hopes by end of this month so seeing who comes first , but with the pain now I was even sooner , it's so scary isint it ? Good luck to you with your app x 

I'm 33 and also live in Ireland.  I didn't know you could be on both lists for an appointment.  It is very scary.

My cousin on my moms side was 31 when she was diagnosed with triple negative cancer and pass away last June.  My nan also had ovarian cancer that she passed away with.  My mom has had the genetic testing done and it came back negative.  So apparently my sister and I don't need to be tested.

My mams first cousin also had it young in early 30s and my nanny ( mams mother ) had it too and her lump is in same place as mine ... I'm so scared Iv two kids I can't have it ... 

ye my GP referred me to both lists.  I have VhI so we said we would chance it, but because of age it don't cover mammograms or the consultation , but I have the app anyway so will prob pay , but hoping public one comes first. 
How long will private take have you a app yet ? 
thags good news about your mam! But if youv symptoms you'd think they would test anyway , it's confusing how they choose

No app yet. I'm hoping to hear something early next week  I think the age for a mammogram is 35.  But I think if they detect something they'll defo do 1. I have 3 kids myself our baby is only 1.  I'm trying to stay positive but with everything that's after happening it's very hard too.

that's pretty unfair as cancer does not discriminate the age it affects. Pain is actually a good sign when it comes to lumps, it may even be painful due to hormonal changes x

Oh okay I didn't know that , would it be a ultrasound then ? I thought the X-ray would see something if was a lump but Gp said no.  I don't know anything about it and hope I don't have too .. fingers crossed for you you hear something next week, it's the waiting and not knowing . 
Awhhhh  , makes you worry more  when you have little people relying on you don't it .

Ye tell me about it, really shocked to find it out , thought they take any non moveable lumps seriously no matter what age.... GP is understanding though.... . yes !! I thought that too ! So was relieved for a minute when felt it, but the pain is in my nipple not the actual lump. Iv age on my side I know, that's the one thing I'm holding onto.
