Worried about being discharged from colposcopy

Long story short Diagnosed CIN3 December 2019. Had LLETZ procedure February 2020. Recently had follow up smear that shown normal cytology still with high risk HPV. had my colposcopy to check cervix for cells as hpv is still present. Saw ectropion where colposcopist said 98.9% of my cervix looks fine. Had this cortorized as I have bleeding after intercourse and when having a bowel movement it makes it worse. They say I don't need need another smear now untill 3 years time but surely with hpv still being present will this not progress especially with still having an ectropion. Does having the ectropion mean that abnormal cells have come back a little bit after procedure. Anyone know anything about this. My mind went blank at my appointment and just wanted to get out of there as it hurt so much.

  • Hi Lexi1994,

To be honest I'm not best placed to advise on this and it would usually be best to talk things through with your doctor. However you may initially find it helpful to speak to one of our nurses - if you would like to give them a call then you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

I hope you're able to get the answers you need soon.

    Wishing you all the best,
