6 months post partum still bleeding

Hello, hoping someone else might be in the same boat as me.

At 32 weeks pregnant, I was hospitalised with serve kidney pain for 3 days but then it went. They couldn't figure out what it was, nothing showed on the autrasound apart from an enlarged kidney but they say diagnosing when pregnant can be hard as everything is more inflamed. They didn't want to send my for an MRI because of baby.

I gave birth 5.5 months ago, it was a normal natural birth with no complicstions and I'm still bleeding. I thought it stopped but then had sex with my husband and started again, that happened a few times.

My doctor suggested I take two contraceptive pills everyday to see if it stops it but it only makes it a little lighter but I still get quite a lot of bloody discharge (so sorry for so much information). I had an internal exam by my GP and have been referred to a gynacoloist who I'm seeing next week. My GP said my cervix was inflamed and still dialated (she said my cervix looks like someone's who gave birth 1 month ago, not 5.5 months ago). My GP said nothing looked sinister but I have no idea what it could be And can she be sure its nothing sinister just by an internal exam. She took HVS and a chlymida swabs (which I know I don't have as have been with husband for over 8 years and had a STI test as we got together at the begining). I have bled lots after the cervical exam. Still on the pill and still bleeding. I also have much more discharge than I had before I was pregnant but thought its normal maybe after birth. I had a normal smear in 2019. I'm just about to turn 30.

Has anyone experienced this? Really nervous it could be cervical cancer .

  • Bump, is there anyone who might be able to offer advice here?

  • Hello,

I am just wondering what your outcome was from seeing the gynaecologist, did they find out the cause for your symptoms? I'm having the same symptoms, and when I was around 36 weeks pregnant, the kidney pain too!!! With no explanation but I was hospitalised with the pain and then it just went.. I have constant stabbing shooting pains in my cervix, lower back pain, bleeding after intercourse, every symptom :( I'm seeing the doctor on Wednesday, it's something I've put off and off as I've tried to put it down to other things and just try and enjoy my baby but this is absolutely terrifying me now :( xx

  • Hiya, so sorry to hear you're experiencing the same thing. It was very worrying but all was OK in the end. Apparently it can take upto a year after birth for your body to get back in the swing of things. I also had a small benign cyst. Definitely get yourself checked out for your own piece of mind. Sending you loads of good thoughts xx

  • Hello, i wondered if you got to the bottom of the issues you were having, as im in a very similar situation and it's driving me insane with worry xx
