Scared I have Lymphoma

So where to start.... For a while now I've had brain fog and memory issues and felt really drained... I've had weired aches and pains coming and going, especially in my groin area and left side of chest. I've been feeling exhausted and generally run down. Seem to catch every infection and take ages to recover. Then in mid December started with a tickly throat, which progressed to a very sore throat and then bad cough and temp of 37.6. I thought it was tonsillitis and would have ignored it but given covid and the fact I work for NHS I wanted to be safe. Dr said not tonsillitis but definitely suspected something viral and to go get a Covid test and come back in a week if no better, I have a history of smoking for 15 years (quit for the second time this October). Covid test was negative. I felt worse after a week, persistent cough and sore throat, really bad nasal drip. Pain behind left ear. Despite using regular ear drops, paracetamol and ibuprofen. I also have pain on back gums on and off and pain on roof of mouth on and off and around my jaw. I also now have white coating on inside of cheeks, back of throat and tongue that cannot be scraped off and a sore/lesion that isnt actually sore on inside of left cheek, it's slightly white in colour with a red outline and an odd shape. I haven't bitten my cheek and it's not a canker sore. Dr is worried upon seeing this and puts me on a two week wait for emergency dental hospital, Dr suspects Lichen Planus. Dr also gives me a spray for nasal drip and treatment for oral thrush just in case. Oral thrush treatment doesn't help at all. Actually makes me feel more sick but I take the full course. Spray helps the nasal drip a little and reduces cough. But cough still persists just more mild, desire being dry and feeling deep in chest. I discover swollen lymph node on lower part of neck a little up from collar bone on left side. It isn't painful and is movable. Saturday before my two week wait appointment at dental hospital I wake up in pain down my left side, can't lay on it and vomit in pain before sleeping it off. Pain comes back when I wake up. I call 111 and go to a and e on their advice. Chest x Ray and bloods clear. Represcribed GERD medication at my request! And given cocodamol for the pain. This makes me severely constipated when taking it regularly so I stop when the pain subsides again. I attend emergency dentists appointment and they don't reassure me. They can't even see the lesion I was referred for but after I point out lesion myself, consultant agrees one side of mouth looks different to the other. He simply tells me to stop playing with my lymph node. I said I was monitoring its growth! He referred me to ENT. I am so tired all the time. Feel depressed. Go to bed and then struggle to sleep. Night sweats on and off, even when sleeping naked. Loss of appetite. I went for ultrasound with ENT today, they said nothing immediately concerning and mentioned something about checking the thyroid but that's not near my lump. Should have results in a week.... More waiting. Do I have lymphoma? Could my symptoms be down to a missed bacterial infection as I've never been offered any antibiotics? Worried about cancer but also worried I could have strep or glandular fever and they're not being treated so could get worse?! I'm 33 and sometimes feel 83!! Could I have an immunity disorder? I just don't feel right. I'm pleased I'm being seen so quickly but don't seem to be getting any answers...

  • Hi,

I'm experiencing some similar stuff, I noticed a lump in December that's got bigger and another popped up, had bloods and chest x ray which were fine. I've also got that pain at the back of my teeth which I thought was wisdom teeth but dentist doesn't think so. I've got lots of random symptoms like itching, ringing ears, random pains and some night sweats

I had an ultrasound a few days ago and they said they weren't concered which is reassuring but I'm a worrier and am worried this hasn't picked something up

I know it's frustrating not having answers and unsure of what to do really

  • Wow sounds identical! I'll let you know what my ultrasound reveals. Like you said I'd rather they found something minor then at least I could stop worrying! If you're not convinced push for my tests/answers.
