Swollen lymphnodes/ scared doctors are missing something

Hi everyone,

apologies if this post doesn't belong here, but I'm really desperate to hear from someone who is maybe in the same position as me

I am an 18 year old female and I have 4 swollen lymphnodes in my neck- one of them has been there for almost a decade, and the others have appeared in the last year or so. I spoke to my gp about this who referred me for an ultrasound scan and blood tests, both of which came back normal.
about 3 months later I noticed a lymph node in my groin. I spoke to the gp about it, who basically said it's nothing to worry about. Last week I noticed 3 more in my groin, and last night I noticed one next to my ear.

explanations doctors have given me previously include that I have a thin neck so can feel them more now (I lost 6 stone a couple of years ago intentionally), I may have been ill previously, and the swelling on my lymphnodes never went down, and that they are only of concern if they are bigger than 1cm.
None of that explains why I am noticing new ones frequently all over my body- most of which I am 100% sure we're not there previously as I checked thoroughly.
I was seen in ENT and begged them to do a biopsy, but they said the lumps were too small for that.

im terrified that the doctors are missing something- I called them yesterday, but I cannot be booked in yet as I have covid-19 (the lumps appeared the day I tested negative on a home testing kit- so not the reason).
would really appreciate hearing any advice x

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Princesss2xx2.

I'm sorry to hear that you found some swollen lymph nodes that don't go down and that you feel your doctors might be missing something, but I'm glad the doctors already saw you, and they found nothing serious.

Hopefully, other forum members who have experience with enlarged lymph nodes will be here shortly to chat with you and offer advice but until then try to focus on other things if at all possible. It sounds like you're a bit stressed over this situation and stress rarely helps.

If you find it difficult to manage your anxiety; however, feel free to reach out to our team of nurses and ask any question you might have. They're available on this phone number 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

    Best wishes,
