Any had breast pain and lump?

41f

found lump 2 weeks ago today after experiencing new onset of breast pain in right breast in milk glands

me and husband found very small lump- gp confirmed yet wanted me to ' wait for a few weeks see if it gets bigger'

maternal family hx not known as estranged

asked for second opinion due to some clear fluid leakage and the fact od had some blood requested in October and I only got them done after Xmas ,.. I work in nhs so am always too busy to look after myself!!

ongoing burning pain , localised to the area and can still feel small nodule / lump

random other symptoms include really red and painful soles of feet? Generalised joint pain in right shoulder and under breast around liver area , general unwell and loss of appetite

has anyone else had this burning pain and been diagnosed with cancer? I'm not looking forward to attending my mammogram tomorrow and wondering if they will say if they are concerned? Will they only do a biopsy if concerned? If others had a scare with lump and pain and discharge what was it?

appt tomorrow at 4.30 and been told to expect it to take 1.5hr ... driving myself mad trying to be brave .

my husband hasn't even mentioned it tonight :(

  • Hi Swragg

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018, I didn't have breast pain. I guess your GP thinks it's a cyst hence why he asked to wait a couple of weeks.

At the breast clinic, they will do a mammogram and perhaps an ultrasound, if there is anything there they are unsure of they will perform a biopsy and you'll get the results in 1 to 2 weeks. Try not to worry, I would take some comfort in the fact your GP didn't seem too concerned, they will have felt so many lumps and bumps they know when to worry and suspect you would have been put on the 2-week pathway if he thought it suspicious. Good luck with the mammogram tomorrow x

  • Thanks ... the gp rang me afterwards and over ruled the first go the next day and put me on a 2ww - which to be fair is correct for breast pain, lump and discharge ( I do these referrals at work) ... typically my appointment lands exactly 10 days from diagnosis so on the last day of cut off!

im hoping everything fine .. it was just the breast pain I'm more interested in as seems less common a symptom for referrals ! X

  • Hi

sorry your going through this, but it’s good you asked for a second opinion.

My symptoms weren’t the typical, as my lump was/is painful, which is one of the reasons a Fibroadenoma was suspected. Luckily the referral was a two week wait and I actually got an appointment three days later. Even though they suspect it to be benign they did biopsies, ultrasounds and mammograms. I think most of the time they feel it’s better to check even if they aren’t concerned.

My pain isn’t really as you describe yours, it’s more of a tender, heavy ache. It’s so difficult to tell before biopsies etc, as a few years back I had a painful lump that was a benign tumour.

I hope your appointment goes well today, I’ll be thinking of you. Keep us updated.

    Pip xx
