Excruciating pain lower right pelvic area and back

Hi, I have had persistent pain in my right pelvis which radiates round my back since before Xmas. I am in agony and despite being prescribed Naproxen and taking cocodomol as well as buscapan, I have no pain relief. I have also developed a rash  on my right side which is raised and painful to touch.
I have been to Gp and had urine and bloods taken. I am also booked in for CT scan on Friday of this week. Very worrying time but wondered whether anyone else on this forum has experienced similar. It's hard to not worry when you don't know what the problem is and in constant pain. Any advice would be appreciated

  • Hello Linda87,

I'm sorry to hear you're feeling poorly and that even the meds are not working to alleviate your pain, but I'm glad you're seen by your GP already.

Hopefully, some of our members who have been through the same situation will come along shortly to chat with you and offer advice. Until then if you feel like speaking with someone medically trained might help, our friendly team of nurses available on this phone number 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

  • Hi Linda

sorry to hear this but I have been experiencing the exact same. I was prescribed Naproxen and it isn't touching the pain. Had a pelvic ultrasound today and the lady doing my scan said it looked fine but need to wait to see what my GP says. The pain is radiating all across my back as well to the point where I can't sleep.

Did you request any blood tests and the CT scan from your doctors? I'm unsure as to what to do next as this is so uncomfortable and I know something is wrong.

Let me know how you get on. X

  • Hi Rosepose, Thankyou for your reply and sorry you are going through the same nightmare. I still have the pain which remains constant. My bloods and urine tests were normal and I have an ultrasound scan booked for 16th Feb. I did have a CT scan a couple weeks ago but that was to monitor a module on my lung. Strangely enough, that is not a worry for me as It causes no bother and I know about it. The pain in my pelvis/back and side is another matter. It’s a gnawing pain and gets me down but I try to keep busy. I am not sure what the problem is and I try to think about many different outcomes instead of the worst case scenario. I guess it’s a nightmare when you are told all appears normal but you still have the pain? That is something your Gp needs to get to the bottom of so don’t give up. If you have pain, there must be a reason. I will absolutely feel like yourself if my ultrasound gives me no answers. Not that I wish to get a bad diagnosis, it’s just that if you have answers you can find a solution, without you are left in limbo. Stay strong and speak to your Gp. Please keep in touch and let me know how you get on. Take care xx
  • Thankyou kindly Renata, very reassuring x
