worried about cervical tests

Hi,

I have been experiencing bleeding after sex which can last up to a week for around 9 months now and have been having heavier and more painful periods recently. I saw my GP last week who did some tests for infections etc which were clear. She referred me for an ultrasound which i had today and the lady who did it said my womb and overies look fine, but she said you're unable to see the cervix with an ultrasound which i found confusing because other sources say you can see the cervix. She said the issue is most likely in my cervix but told me to go back to my GP. i'm feel worried about my symptoms as they seem to match up with symptoms for cervical cancer. I was wondering if anyone knows what sort of tests i can expect and what kind of questions to ask my GP when i go back. I'm only 21 so it's all a bit daunting for me. TIA xxx

  • Welcome to the forum Roseflower although I'm sorry for the worry your symptoms are causing.

Unfortunately I'm unable to say what tests may follow when you go back to you GP but our nurses may be able to offer some insight and advice on what questions to ask when you do see them next so if you'd like to have a chat with them about this, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Hopefully some of our members will offer their support and advice to you soon as well.

    All the best,
