Large Lump - I'm panicking

Hi, I'm hoping someone may have some advice.

I found a large lump in my breast golf ball/walnut sized. This wasn't there a month ago! Thankfully I got a GP appt the next day. I have a breast clinic appt on the 21st but I'm going out of my mind with worry - not helped by googling I must admit.

I can view my GP notes online and he has stated suspected cancer. Does the large size of my lump mean it will be a late stage cancer?

I have a bit of health anxiety anyway but my mind is taking me all over the place: I'm getting pains elsewhere since I found it, I'm thinking its spread, its definitely metastatic, etc, etc. How on earth do you deal with this wait?

  • Hi!
My story is very similar to yours. I noticed changes in December, attended a GP appointment on 30/12/20 and had an ultrasound and biopsy performed on 08/01/21. I am due to receive my results on 14/01/21. Googling is not ideal, particularly if the websites are not reputable. But I have done it myself! From what I have read on this forum, "suspected cancer" is written as standard protocol within a referral. After all, investigations are being conducted to rule this out. My referral which I could view online stated this. It is still horrible in read it though. The investigations being performed will help to determine the actual size of the lump you have found. It is total normal to experience a rollercoaster of emotions. I certainly have! One moment I am feeling okay, the next as though my world is falling apart. Talking to others is helpful, particularly those who are living or have lived through this journey. Are you still at work?
