Worried about colonoscopy and bowels

I have my colonoscopy on Monday after a year and a half of pains in my stomach bloating felling sick and back pain  bloods came back ok but my stool test came back at 196 I'm really worried about what's going to come back on Monday have the dreaded prep tomorrow but I guess I'm just venting

  • Hi Mary I'm Nathan and I feel for you I'm going through this myself right Now. I should remember but I can't if it was last year or the closer to end of the year before. But I had really bad pain in my belly and problem with my bowels. So I was sent to the local hospital for a colonoscopy. Witch came back saying I had diverticulitis. And that was that didn't hear any more from my doctor's. But the problems continued and I went back to doctor a couple of times. Just to be fobbed off. Anyway October 2020 things started getting worse. To the point anything I eat gave me really bad pain and with in 10 miniuts I be stuck on the toilet for the rest of the night and next morning. This has not stopped and still the case now. My doctor's finally decided to book me in for a colonoscopy.

I got the letter on the 23rd December 2020 and only got my sample kit last week. But got it sent back and now just waiting on that.

The one thing I can say for myself and might be different for you depending on the letter you received.

But my letter said ( suspected lower GI cancer )

And it's set my brain in to panic mode and now I'm paying way more attention to every little pain I now seems to be getting. It was just in my belly now it's on my back and my knee. Go figure but I think it's just my brain playing tricks on me but I'm not 100%.

Hopefully Monday will come and your get your colonoscopy and everything will be ok.

Just try to keep your head up. And try not to Google this. Because it could be anything

  • I know what u mean every little pain or bowel movement I am focusing so much on I'm jus so tired all the time with young kids it's hard so I really hope it's not that bad of news. As you said stay of google which is also hard and I admit I have done which sends you into even more worry. I hope your colonoscopy comes back ok and you figure out what's going on it really is draining it take over your life worrying.

  • Yes it does and with this covid stuff going on it's making things worse with the NHS. But to be honest I'm not 100% why because A&E seem to be empty from a number of different posts I have seen on Facebook of people who I know who been to a&e for one thing or another

  • I did go to a&e about a month ago about the pains I was waiting from 3 in the afternoon to 5 in the morning untill I was seen by the end I just wanted to go home although I don't no how many times I have been to a&e for this and I don't think they do a lot all's they seem to do with me is take bloods and send me home saying could be colitis or Ibs which doesn't really help muchh
