postmenopausal endometrial polyp now it a waiting game

Hello Ladies

On the 16th December I called my GP as I had a postmenopausal bleed it was bright red and lasted about 4/5 days I was also bleeding after sex sometimes more than others so I thought best get it seen to. The GP sent me for blood tes t as he wasnt convinced I had gone through the change and wanted to check other issues as well, I went for the blood test on the 23rd ,I am 45 (just) and started the menopause at the age of 39. Anyway the results came back and yes I had gone through it,but also had poor kidney function (I only have 1 so thats a bit *** and also have a cholesterol reading of 8.8  ) Back to the bleed on the 24th I had a call for a scan very impressed of the NHS. On 26th I had a text for an appointment with gynyon the 30/12 he arranged for me to go in for hystoscopy. On the 1/1/21 another text for a pre-med on the 4th and covid test on the 5th and op on the 8th.

So of cause alarm bells are ringing, the NHS never get you in that quick. hence why Im writting this at stupid oclock. Not sureif im being paronoid, The poylp has been sent off for analise, should get the reults back in a week to 10 days.

Has anyone else been in this boat? Im not scared, im one of these people that needs to know.

  • Hi

I dont think it's silly to be worried about your health. I suffered postmenopausal bleed on Tuesday so contacted GP, she referred me for transvaginal ultrasound which I had Thursday.  Like you I was shocked by how fast the appointment was made. The sonographer said there is a possible polyp and she saw fibroids she has advised my GP arrange a hysteroscopy for further investigation.

I know my GP has the results along with the advised further investigation but GP has not yet rang me. A friend told me the hysteroscopy was painful for her how did you find it?

I hope you get good results. Stay safe. X

  • Morning I had my hysteroscopy under general anaesthetic. So it was fine, feel a little bit bruised inside today but nothing major don't need any pain killers. I was due to have a transvaginal scan on the same day as my op  but had it when I went to see the gynaecologist on the 30th. I'm not holding out much hope on results being to GP within the time due to covid, I received all my appointments paperwork yesterday!
    Fingers crossed for you.

    take care xx

  • Hi,

Thank you. Just a waiting game now and with a pandemic the NHS are already seriously stretched. Will put it to the back of my mind until I hear more.

    Good luck. X
