just wanted to say I'm really sorry you are currently going through this I know how scary it is! I'm going through something really similar to you. It's been going on for nearly 4 months and I'm finally being seen for an US next Tuesday. 
I had acid reflux then feeling like I have lumps in my throat and and constant burning feeling when I burp and swallow. Noticed one of my tonsils swollen and the other almost gone which is weird.. doctors just kept brushing it off as acid reflux etc but I kept pushing for more answers.

have they done any blood tests for you?? I would request that if not. Or even call 111 for some advice I've done that a few times now. Covid is making everything harder as well as doctors don't want to see you. 
I've got lumps in the side of my neck too so pretty worried but got to hope it's something else. 
 

it could be you have had acid reflux and it has irritated your throat and made your tonsil swell up. Drink plenty of water and stay off acidic foods see if it calms it down.

Hi thank you so much for your reply and I'm so sorry to hear you are going through the same thing. I have had my bloods done at my GPS yesterday but they just told me I needed it for my referral. I'm trying to focus on the positives as the gp said I don't have swollen lymph nodes but this doesn't provide much comfort  as I just want someone to look at them and tell me what I'm dealing with I understand they have to have a phone screening first but it just adds to my worry and makes me think they won't see me for a physical appointment as I don't fit the risk factors. 
i understand how fustrating it is that the doctors have brushed you off you know your own body and when it's not right I hope everything goes well for you with your ultrasound and you get the answers you need and deserve x

so sorry to hear that you are going through a difficult time. I am going through something similar. At the start of December i was having with the right side of my mouth and put it down to wisdom tooth coming through. The week before Christmas i got a sore throat and noticed my right tonsil is enlarged compared to the other. I had a telephone appointment with the dr who thought i had tonsillitis. I had a 10 day course of antibiotics. After 10 days i thought it had got better but it hadnt gone. I had a feeling something was stuck in my throat but only just came on and the tonsil had not got bigger. Dr put me on another 10 day course of antibiotics but now im worried i imagined it getting better. Im 2days in to second course and i dont have a sore throat im worried its having no impact. 
 

i suffer with quite bad anxiety and its really getting me down. I dont want to eat or do anything at the moment and im constantly looking at my tonsil. I cant help but look at google and im just really struggling. 

Dont think it has done anything. Think i will call the doctor tomorrow and share my worries whilst asking for a ent appointment. 
 

just such a scary and uncertain world we are in at the minute and this doesnt help.

I am sorry you are also going through this. I also have an enlarged tonsil with abnormal growth. I noticed it christmas eve, went to doctors on the Tuesday saw the ENT~ the following Monday now have a MRI booked for tomorrow, pre op for biopsy and penoscopy? Wednesday and Ultrasound and aspiration Thursday I am lucky that I am getting seen quickly so I hope you do too. Waiting is a horrible game and looking on internet never a good idea although something we all do.Me included!! You also dont know whether to be positive and say is just reactive tissue, or infection or get your self syked up for cancer. It will be some time before we all know but fingers crossed for everyone. At least we can put thoughts to paper here.

Me too, I went to see a GP a few months ago about large tonsils and he said I just had big tonsils. So for a while that put my mind at ease but recently I've been getting really anxious about it as I also have the acid reflux type symptoms some of you have described so I'm going to book an appointment with my GP and ask for some tests.

An extra stress for me is that I'm on my year abroad this year for uni so only in the UK for holidays and with COVID travel is already difficult enough without having to book trips home for doctors appointments so I'm really hoping it's nothing too bad to worry about.

I'm hopeful that all of us can find the answers we need and that those of you who posted in January already have those answers
