Partner referred to consultant (lump in leg)

Hey,

My partner found a lump in her leg at the beginning of December. She had an ultra sound, which didn't pick it up very well so she was referred for an MRI, which she had done within a week.
She was told results would be within 2 weeks, maybe longer.
However, she's been given an appointment to see a consultant within 24 hours of the MRI

We're both worried sick, we don't have any other information and the appointment isn't until 18th Jan. My partner has never been through anything like this before, she's a nervous wreck and I'm afraid I'm overthinking and panicking too now.

Has anyone been through anything like this before? Please tell this isn't automatically bad news? Is this standard with lumps?

thanks

  • Hi Elgee,

All I can say is I too have been offered an appointment 48hrs fter biopsy and had same thoughts as you - is this something to worry about. I text the consultant and she said it is the norm as results can take up to two weeks so I take this to mean that an automatic appointment is made. Mine isn't till 25th Jan!
Hope this helps - the waiting is awful I know. Keep busy that's what I am trying to do!!!
