Pancoast Tumour fears

Hi all,

I've had strange shoulder blade pain, rib cage tenderness and tingling in my arm since August which hasn't been remedied by physiotherapy, pain killers etc. It has got significantly worse and I have done an E-consult to my doctor several times and been given antibiotics, told to do exercises and nothing has helped. I finally had a face to face exam on Wednesday and I'm currently awaiting a blood test result. The doctor has no idea what's wrong and I did the dreaded google of my symptoms which always comes up as a pancoast syndrome. I'm scared that my bloods will come back normal (which is normal for pancoast tumours) and the doctor will not investigate further due to my age (under 30). I don't want to be patronising to the wonderful GP I'm under the care of at the minute but does anyone have any advice on how I can keep on at this until I get answers? I don't want to strain our already broken NHS but something is just not right with me and it's effecting my every day life.

Thank you

  • Hello LondonJay

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some ongoing health concerns. We often find that people who search the internet for information about their symptoms are led down a rabbit hole that ends with a worst case scenario diagnosis. Often the information is incorrect or not applicable and the individual still has no real answers but is left feeling very anxious and more concerned than they were before. For now, it would be wise to give Google a wide berth.

It sounds from your post as if you have a good relationship with your GP so be honest with him about your concerns. Only then will he be able to support you and arrange any further investigations that may be appropriate.

I do hope that you have some answers soon and that things start to improve.

    Best wishes,
