Titanium marker

Hi, I have had two biopsys, the first one they didn't manage to get enough cells, so I was called back again to have another in the same place, both times they have left titanium markers.  The last biopsy I had was at the start of Dec. I seemed to recover well. Until this morning I noticed my breast was still bruised and there is now a big hard lump where the titanium is.  The lump is the size of a fingerprint. Is this normal and how long should it take to fully recover ?

  • Hello Oakley

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently needed some breast biopsies and that you've developed a hard lump after the most recent one.

It's possible that this is some swelling from the biopsies but I'd suggest giving the breast team a call if you're concerned and you don't have another appointment arranged at the moment. I'm sure they will be able to offer you some reassurance or arrange for you to be seen in clinic sooner if there are any concerns.

    Best wishes,
