I've got a date for a colonoscopy due to several bowel issues that I'm suffering. I'm beyond petrified to say the least. Has anyone who's had a colonoscopy got any helpful tips and advice for me please to ease my concerns of the actual procedure?

I have my colonoscopy on Monday after getting an urgent appointment I feel the same really scared of what they might find everyone just keeps telling me it will be ok but it doesn't stop you worrying , well I hope yours all goes well x
Aww I'm sorry you're going through the same its horrible isn't it. I can't sleep, eat or function properly and obsessed with examining my stools (sorry too much information) the Nurse I spoke with said 96% of people who have a colonoscopy are fine and nothing sinister is found but of course I can't stop thinking about the 4% that aren't so lucky.
Hope all goes well on Monday please let me know how you get on x
No I'm not 100% the same don't no if I'm picking up on every little detail because I am so worried. Thank you I will do x
I had a colonoscopy after my Dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer . I didnt find it at all painful and I didnt need to use the pain relief gas provided . For me the worst bit was drinking the stuff to clear your bowel out -its disgusting but effective ,
My advice would be to follow the diet plan carefully to make sure your bowels are empty and relax
During the procedure slow calm breathing ,i also found it fascinating and reassuring watching the procedure on the screen.
Thank you for your reply.
I've read that the prep is horrible.
I'm so worried that they find something sinister, my Dad had bowel cancer but was misdiagnosed before his bowel perforated.
it's all such a worry.
