Biospy&General surgery query

Hi so I went to the doctors with a lump, they referred me urgently to the breast clinic, I had a scan and they told me not to worry about that lump but then found another lump which look different and resulted in me having to have a biopsy

I got told they would ring me from the breast clinic with results, however I have received a letter for an appointment with a specialist-general surgery I am so scared does anyone know what happens in a general surgery appointment?

  • Hello 270414

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had a breast biopsy. It's often a difficult time waiting for the results and I know many of our members here will understand that.

In the current circumstances it seems that appointments are often changed from face to face to telephone consultations and vice versa. Try not to read too much into why you have now been offered a face to face appointment.

With regards to the title of "specialist general surgery" this is a fairly standard hospital description of a breast consultant and again I wouldn't read too much into this.

You might find it helpful to give our team of nurses a call ahead of your appointment. I'm sure they will be able to offer you some advice and support. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
