Tonsil removal

Hello,

I am posting this I'm all a bit confused and looking for some advice.

I had an ENT appointment today which I pushed for due to me having an enlarged tonsil. The dr said it was enlarged but not massively.

He did an endoscopy and didn't say he found anything.

However he decided to book me into have both tonsils taken out and they would sent to be biopsied. The appointment is booked for 26th Jan.

He also sent me for a chest xray and bloods but couldn't explain to me why.

My mind is in over drive as to why he sent me for a chest x ray and bloods and whether he thinks it may actually be tonsil cancer as removing tonsils during the current situation is quite high risk.

I apologise for the long post. I'm just a bit lost and confused.

Thank you

  • Hello K12345

I'm sorry to hear about your concerns following your recent appointment with the ENT Consultant. It's understandable that you may be feeling worried about what this may all mean.

It may be worth getting in touch with your GP who should have had a letter from the Consultant explaining what was discussed and what the plans are. It may be that the GP is able to answer your questions.

Alternatively you could call the Consultant's secretary to express your concerns. They may be able to arrange for you to speak to someone ahead of your surgery.

I hope that your surgery goes smoothly and that you have some reassurance soon.

    Best wishes,
