Hi,
I'm not really sure if I'm posting in the right place or anything... To be honest, my mind is pretty much frazzled at the moment.
I'm also really sorry if this is too much information.
I'm a 29 year old & since the end of 2019 I had really heavy periods and then around March 2020 I started bleeding in between also. In August, I ended up at A&E as it was constant - I couldn't walk, sit, stand... Nothing - all for fear of not being protected. I was feeling bloated, as you normally would at the time of the month, but this was more. Also had pains in the top of my legs, around my hips and pelvis although (thankfully), these seem to have subsided for now.
At A&E they didn't really do anything; a pregnancy test, had to have a blood test & that was about it.
Over the course of another 6 phone calls with my GP (thanks COVID for no face-to-face), different medication was tried but in reality he had no idea what the issue was.
I finally got put on the pill which I've always tried to avoid in the past, but this really helped... The bleeding is literally almost non-existent at the moment, but it concerns me that they've stopped the issue without knowing the initial cause for it.
At the GPs request, I was told I would need an MRI scan which has now come through.
I am booked in to have an MRI scan on Friday & honestly, I'm so so scared.
Do they only request an MRI when there's something really to worry about?
I'm also more than dreading the wait between having the scan & getting results.
I've never had to have anything like this before... I've always been really good in the past at attending them & I last had a cervical screening in October 2016. I was invited for one in October 2019 but said I couldn't attend because I was having irregular and heavy periods so they told me to re-book when it had settled. But it didn't until this issue now.
Anyone have any advice for how to deal with the worry or any positive experiences following an MRI please?
Thanks in advance x
