Return of the periods

Hi

i stoped having periods March 2019. Then this year on my 55th birthday (September) I started bleeding. Contacted my gp who fast tracked me to gyne. Had a scan three weeks later which showed a very slightly thickened lining. Everything else (ovaries etc) looked normal. I was sent straight for a hysterscope the same days which all looked ok and had biopsies taken. Results came back normal and I was discharged. Six weeks later I had another period. Contacted my gp as I had been told to do, they asked for advice from the hospital and I was asked to keep a diary and get back to them in the new year. Yesterday I started another period. I have no breakthrough bleeding and they follow the exact same course the did before menopause. I am worried something is being missed. Surely this isn't normal?

  • Hello Hjm300965

I'm sorry to hear about the ongoing health concerns you've had recently. It's reassuring to hear that your scans and biopsies were all normal but it's understandable that you're concerned about what may be going on.

Do get back in touch with your GP to let them know that you're still experiencing these bleeds but you might also want to talk things through with one of our team of nurses. They may be able to give you some support and advice about questions you could ask your GP. If you'd like to speak to them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I do hope that you have some answers and reassurance soon.

    Best wishes,
