Waiting on pathology results for appendiceal cancer

Hi,

I'm new here. I was wondering if anyone has appendiceal cancer whom I can talk to.

3 weeks ago I had laparoscopic excision of endometriosis- I've had this surgery many times before so it wasn't a big deal, however when my consultant came round after, he said he had to remove my appendix as it was extremely long (had coiled on itself), tethered and inflamed - he'd never seen anything like it. Said he'd sent it to pathology as it could be due to endometriosis, but could also be something else.

Anyway, I'm still waiting for the results from pathology, and although I understand that things are delayed at this time of year, and especially with Covid, it's driving me a little insane.

I've had no symptoms other than the normal endometriosis ones (which do include bowel symptoms and flank pain) so I'm sure it's fine, but I'd like to hear from anyone who has been diagnosed in case it is bad news.

TIA

  • Hi JJTuga,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can understand this must be a little unsettling and maybe confusing. I hope you're getting on OK and that it's not too long to wait to find out more about this.

If anyone here has similar experience to share then hopefully they'll be along soon - do also feel free to browse or search the forum in case there are other relevant discussions that may help.

Wishing you all the best and I hope you hear more soon,
