Breast Biopsy results.

Hi

I started a few months ago having a burning sensation under my left breast. I didn't have it check at the time with Covid  But I then noticed I had a lump in my breast that was fixed and didn't move and was hard, So I made a doctors appointment and had was referred to the breast clinic. I went yesterday seen a doctor who I felt was a little dismissive. He Said he didn't think it was anything to worry about just by feeling the lump but would send me for a mammogram X-ray.  I was sent down three times to have different images taken of the same breast were the lump is. Then I was taken into an other room where there was another doctor she was lovely. She said she was going to do an ultrasound which was fine. Felt very at ease with her. The Doctor who was doing the ultrasound said she was going to do a biopsy as she said something doesn't look right. After the biopsy I was sent back into the first doctor who I felt was a little dismissive again. Said I would get a phone call next week with the results and no to worry as it looks benign.
which I don't feel reassured by. Is he trying to play this down until they know or am I over thinking?
If they think it's benign then why so many different imagine and a long ultrasound and biopsies.

i think I'm finding this harder as I haven't told any of my family except from my husband. I don't want people worrying about me and wanted them to enjoy Christmas and new year without worrying about me. Oh and I'm in my early 40s

thank you if you can give me an help

  • I had a clinic appointment with mammogram scan and biopsy all done on same day. Before I left they said its looked "concerning " and I would have to return for results.  Advised to bring someone with me. Turns out was cancer and I have had surgery 3 weeks ago.  I would hope that they would have told you if it was worrying or concerning and I hope you have your mind put at rest with a benign result really soon

  • Sorry to hear of your diagnosis, I am waiting for my appointment to have a lump checked. Can I ask after surgery do you need to have chemo or radiotherapy? Also can I ask how old you are? I am 38 and so worried

  • Hi Kim Marie

I have just turned 48, same week as surgery ,  so no party for me. I had lumpectomy and node removal which was successful in removing all cancer. Now waiting for my assessment for radiation therapy and I have started the medication which I will take for 5 to 10 years.

My surgeon said most lumps are nothing to be concerned about but even those that are cancer can have a good outcome with treatments, but the waiting is torture for you - I know from experience.

Wishing you love and light for a healthy outcome

    Hi Ka-mic,

Welcome to our forum. I am so sorry to hear about your symptoms and the worry they are causing you. Having been through this procedure several times in the past 11 years, I agree that this is a tremendously worrying time.

I am sorry to hear that you found the consultant you saw so dismissive, but glad to hear that he said that your lump looks benign. It is often not until they have carried out these tests that they can tell, so here's hoping that he is right.

They don't usually hold anything back. I'm sure that if he felt that there was anything untoward, that he would have said so.

Do please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kindest regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • So sorry to hear this. I am currently waiting for biopsy results. Im 22 and they told me the same thing that it's concerning. May I ask what stage you are please? X

  • Hello,

im 22 and currently waiting on my biopsy results. It seems like forever waiting for them. Please tell your loved ones, I wouldn't have got through it myself. Your health is the most important thing.

  • He said it was at earliest stage, lumpectomy and node removal showed all sinister bits were removed with a clear margin. From finding a lump to surgery was about 6 weeks. I am waiting for radiation therapy and have started taking tamoxifen daily

  • So glad you got treatment so quickly. Wish you all the best xxx
