Dermatologist appointment

Hi,

I have been to see my GP in relation to a suspicious mole. I have lost a close relative to malignant melanoma, and due to the fact it has grown, changed colour, is visually different to all my other moles and is showing different pigmentation I thought it needed to be checked out. I was told that I would be urgently referred to the dermatology department and the target time for the appointment would be two weeks.

I have now received a virtual appointment which will be 6 weeks after seeing my GP. I appreciate the difficulties around Coronavirus and the fact that very few moles are malignant, however I am concerned as to whether a virtual appointment is sufficient. Has anyone has had a similar experience?

Many thanks

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Violet_55.

I'm sorry to hear about your mole, and I can appreciate why you're concerned about having a virtual appointment.

Hopefully, other forum members who did have one will soon be along to chat with you and offer insight, as talking with those who can understand do seem to help.

Also, feel free to reach out to our friendly team of nurses if you have questions you think they might be able to helo with. They're available on this phone number 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m, outside of Holiday hours.

    Best wishes,
