Waiting for breast biopsy results

Hi all, I'm 22 and today had an ultrasound, mammogram and biopsy due to finding a lump on my right breast. It is around 1.7cm.

I go in for my results next week, the doctor was quite concerned but obviously couldn't give me a definite answer.

Please can someone advise me on how to take my mind off this. I'm so worried. :(

  • Hi,

I'm currently going through the exact same thing!  I'm 24, found a large lump around 6 weeks ago - had my appointment yesterday, 2 scans, a mammogram and biopsies taken along with a 'gold clip' inserted near the lump. I have a follow up appointment next Wednesday for the results and I'm absolutely petrified. The consultant said he couldn't give me details of what he thought it could be, but obviously my mind is on overdrive and I'm thinking of the worst case scenarios :( Hope you get good news when you go for your results!

  • Hi there,

I had mammograms, ultrasounds and biopsies of both the breast lump and a lymph node yesterday. I had a piece of titanium inserted into my breast. I have to wait two weeks for my diagnosis, but the doctor said it measures 3-5cm and looks 'very worrying,' which has of course made me think the worst. I am 46 with two children aged 13 and 15 and am so scared.

I do feel a little calmer today than yesterday when I was in a state of shock and am distracting myself by watching films. I have to go back to work on Monday and I'm not sure how I'll be able to concentrate on anything until I get my diagnosis.

All the best to you both. I'll post my results on here when I get them. X

  • Hi,

All the best to you aswell! The consultant said my lump is around 5cm and I too had a biopsy of lymph nodes. I'm in quite a lot of pain today (from the biopsies) and have quite a bit of bruising/swelling. Are you experiencing anything similar? x

  • Yes, me too. I have stayed mainly in bed as I have also had a temperature (I don't think it's related to the biopsy, but I've had it since I arrived home from hospital yesterday). My breast feels sore, although a little less so than it did last night. I have been taking paracetamol when I've needed to sleep and want the pain to disappear. X

  • Also, I haven't dared to take the plaster off yet, as I wanted to leave it there for 48 hours, but I can see some redness and it also stings occasionally.

  • So sorry to hear this it's awful especially around this time :( I have mine next Thursday and they told me to bring someone which of course made me feel worse!!

Fingers crossed we both get good news ️

  • I feel the same in terms of going back to work! I work in a bloody hospital too which doesn't help!!

I hope you both have a lovely New Years, let's not let this worry us until there's something to worry about!! Although I'm not sure how possible that can be xx

  • It definitely is awful, I obviously had my appointment alone due to covid and when they also told me to bring someone with me for the results next week - I instantly went into shock :( I too, work in the hospital as I'm a student nurse so I'm dreading going back. Have a lovely new year and fingers crossed we both get some good news The consultant told me, my age is on my side - so here's hoping Xx

  • Hi, I'm 25 and in the last couple of weeks have been through similar, but i was told after the scans that it's just glandular tissue..

However 2 days ago my breasts both were red swollen and so uncomfortably itchy, I've just been applying sidocrem to ease the itching.. While I try to get an appt with the GP again, difficult with covid and xmas too..

Try not to stress too much hope everything goes OK for you, ATB xxx

  • Feel free to message any time if you need a chat!! Xx
