Lumps on my neck

Hi im new to this, and feel slightly silly for jumping on so quick when there maybe nothing to worry about. But here goes, I've been referred to ENT for a lump i have just under my ear (i noticed it about 6 months ago) well one day it made my face swell every time i ate. Went to see my GP who referred me on. They think its just a blocked Salivary gland. They have asked me to go straight for an ultrasound then will see me in clinic after with the results. My ultrasound is on 15th Jan.

Well today i have found 2 more lumps lower down my neck just above my collor bone. Im now starting to panic and feel sick to my stomach with worry. I have 2 young girls. Im probably just reading too much into it this early on but you can't help worry can you? Do you think i should let my GP know about the new lumps, and maybe get fast tracked, or am i being to hasty? I hate going to the GP at the best of times! I'm not normally a worrier.

  • Hiya !

I would update your gp regarding new lumps, do not google because it will all be awful but when it comes to collarbone lymph nodes although usually it's nothing it's definitely something to mention.

if it's any consolation I have a collarbone lymph node about 3.5 mm and it's been scanned twice and given the OK.

    all the best x

  • Hi, personally I would contact the dr if only to put your mind at ease.  Worry and stress are no good for health.  By calling the doc, even if it doesn't speed up your tests, will put you back in a feeling of some sort of control.  Which may help a little with your worry.

    Good luck.

  • Hi Becksxxx

Thanks for your message, I'm going to phone them tomorrow and let them know. Its always a worry when you find lumps. I had bloods done about 4 weeks ago for the salivary gland but that was negative (but unsure what they actually tested for).

That's reassuring about your lump. Xx

I've just spent sometime on the phone to an old friend who had non hodgkins twice for reassurance and to tell me to pull up my big girl pants! She also recommended I phone the GP to make them aware.

  • Thanks dragonfach

I'm not normally a worrier. But this is getting to me

  • Oh bless it's really tough when you have children I have a just turned two year old and I found my lumps around dec last year none of them have gone - my jaw one is so painful to touch - could be dentist issue but my dentist doesn't think so!

im now having breast issues and it feels like a never ending battle! With Covid making every delayed and scarier when you are worrying about an underlying health condition I completely feel for you. Your friend is right and the odds are in your favour! Do you know roughly the size of your collarbone nodes ? I'm not trained but my sonographer said to me she wouldn't even investigate a collarbone node until it's at least 1cm and even then it's usually nothing. Mind free flows around a lot and my toddler has one too!

I hope all goes well for you xx

  • Ah bless you, that is never ending! Especially with a new thing.

One of the lumps moves freely bit painful but I think it's because I'm prodding it all the time in the hope ot would disappear! The other isn't so free moving both roughly the same size 1 maybe smaller then the other. And probably a little under 1cm.

    Xx
