    Hi Ladyvibez2020,

I replied to your post yesterday, but it seems to have disappeared into the ether. With the current pandemic it is usual for people to be asked to attend on their own for the first visit, although most hospitals will allow you to bring someone with you when you return to get your results 1-2 weeks later. You will probably get all the information you need on the letter which comes through with your appointment. If not, you are best to phone your consultant's secretary to ask what their protocols are, as these can vary from one hospital to the next.

If you have to do it on your own, you will find that the staff at the clinic will do their best to put you at your ease. They are all very pleasant and understanding. Be prepared for a long visit though, as you could be in the hospital for 3-4 hours if you have to have the usual tests (Ultrasound and/or mammogram and biopsy).

I hope that your appointment comes through soon.

    Kindest regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you I will keep everyone posted when I get an appointment and when I know the outcome

  • I was in a similar situation last month . I ended up having mammograms , ultrasound and biopsy and it turned out to be cancer . My manager at work and various other people kept saying 'it will be nothing , just like when you go for a smear and they don't quite get enough cells' . Like you this made me worse ... in my head I'm a realist and thought if I'm the one out of 8 I've got to prepare myself . I have to say though that they have been very quick to act and I've already had my surgery and due to start radiotherapy in the New Year .
Mine was caught early after a delayed mammogram so I have so much to be thankful for . I couldn't have anyone at my diagnosis or results after the op but I've managed to take it all just one day at a time . My consultant did say to me though 'you look worried '  when going for my results ???!!!!! I replied that I'd lost 3 close family to cancer in 6 months to which he said 'not breast cancer though ?' .... that's really not the point !!!

Yours will hopefully be good news and I will keep everything crossed for you ... I guess all I'm saying is that even with a cancer diagnosis it doesn't always mean the worst !

  • Thank you

I'll keep everyone posted with any updates i get xx

  • Anyone got an appointment yet? I followed up yesterday and have been told I should be called today. I have started experiencing an aching sensation under my arm and a bit down my side which is making me worry even more. The lump isn't painful itself but I can't work out if I should be worried about the aching. Anyone who reads this have any experience? x

  • I have my appointment this afternoon. Feeling extremely anxious. Will let you know how it goes. Hope other have their appointments soon. X

  • I got my appointment letter in the post this morning. I have to wait until the 19th of January to be seen by the clinic. Apparently this is the best they can do with covid etc

Couple more anxious weeks to wait.

    Xx

  • Hiya, sorry you have to wait so long. That is hard. I'm very lucky to have been seen so quickly. I have more anxious waiting as they took a biopsy and it will be 7-10 working days for the results. I asked directly if she thought it was cancer and she said she couldn't tell. I'm very scared because of course it could be... it could also be benign. With everything that happened with my husband it feels like a real posibility that it could be. I have to try not to worry too much and enjoy this time as who knows, things might be getting very tough soon. And that would be on top of liver surgery for my husband  (he recently had a bowel resection). But wherever happens, we will get through it, and so will you! Thinking of you xx

  • Hi LucyMariko,

I hope everything goes well for you at your appointment, I went to the doctors on the 29th as I found a large lump in right breast and then another not a few minutes later. It's painful and now I've noticed my right breast is much heavier and swollen at the tail end. I'm ever so scared as 24 tomorrow but it is in my genetics. Ever twinge and pull my anxiety depeens - I so hope I can get a fast appointment like yourself as it is the waiting that is the worst. Wishing you all health and happiness this New Year xxx
