Smear results

Hey. I received my smear test results and now so worried. I have high risk HPV and low grade dyskaryosis. I have to have a colposcopy. Reading through comments people have to wait a few for one but I've already received my letter for my appointment which is the 6th of Jan. Now I'm even more worried as seems like they re trying to get me in quickly or something. I can't help thinking the worst. Any experience would be appreciated x

  • Hello Kayea2020,

Don't read anything into the fact that you have an appointment soon - it really doesn't mean anything other than that you are very lucky to be seen so quickly! Don't worry about your smear test results - so many ladies on this forum will have had low grade dyskaryosis and have also had a colposcopy and I hope that they will be along shortly to share their experience with you.

You can find out more information about having abnormal cervical cells on this page which I hope will reassure you. I thought I would also share this link to help you prepare for your colposcopy.

It won't be long now before your appointment and I hope that it all goes well for you.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi

I just wanted to reassure that high grade pre cancerous cells ten years ago, they we're successful removed by a simple operation and I've never needed any further treatment.

All my smears since have been completely normal. These changes are not cancer. But they have the protential of becoming cancer so they are removed.

good luck you will be absolutely fine x
