Bowel Cancer

I was sent to my gp for having diahorea and stomach cramps

and bloating and urinating constantly

I suffer from anxiety but then my gp called and said I have abnormal results but my blood count was fine

so I might have inflammation bowel but I asked if it was cancer she said I'm young and my blood count was good

I'm 25

could it be ???
I'm being sent to gastrointestinal department

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, TayMat.

I'm sorry to hear about your symptoms and that they are causing you to be concerned about the possibility of having cancer but I'm glad your medical team is seeing you.

I know it's easier said than done but try not to stress too much before you have the chance to speak to your doctor again.

Hopefully, other members who have gone through the same experience will come along shortly to chat with you and give advice but until then, if you feel that chatting with someone with a medical background may help, our friendly team of nurses are available on this phone number 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m, except for the holidays.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi

    Merry Christmas!

Gastro will get to the reason for your symptoms although anxiety causes these symptoms too.

Try and focus on the positives.... you are young, bloods were fine.

I've had bowel cancer and never had  problems urinating more than normal, not sure if that even is a bowel cancer symptom. Have you been losing blood, I take it you haven't or your blood tests would have shown anaemia.

I'm sure your symptoms will improve after the gastro have done their investigations.

    Good luck and DON'T google!

  • I haven't lost any blood , my blood count was normal and healthy apparently

it's cramps , and change of bowel habits I'm concerned about they didn't even say what they think it is x

    and nausea x

  • Do you have a feeling of after going to the toilet your bowels aren't empty. I was diagnosed with coeliac disease had all the symptoms of it but that one thing had my doc do further tests. No blood no weight loss no pain bar the bloating which going gluten free got rid of.

My colonoscopy came back positive and MRI showed it spread to liver. I'm  hopeful it's caught early enough so push for scopes even if you got to go private might be worth the few pounds. I've no family history. Ulcerative colitis is in my family which has the same symptoms. Thank God for my doc. Time is crucial with cancer

  • Hope you are well yes same told mine was IBS and then constipation and I too ignored the signs .Easier said then done hope you have made a full recovery now .

  • HI am doing ok still got 3 more of chemo but hopefully I’ll be ok it’s mad that they put down to ibs right away they should just check for the worse first and work down from that hope u are doing ok

  • Oh poor you yes I've done chemo and radiation and was in the middle of Papillion treatment when we went into lock down so did not finish treatment ans am now waiting for an opp they have promised a temporary bag not holding my breath I am apparently an urgent case but have been waiting since November but I've started to tell my self this is the path I was ment to take so suck it up . I had a 12x 14 tumour in my bowel and they said it would of been growing for at least 10 years .I'm glad to hear you are ok and have only 3 treatments left .Take care and I hope you remain cancer free till the end of your days x
