Headache on one side of head

Hi I'm an 18 year old male. For the past 2 weeks I've had a mild headache in the right and sometimes left side of my head. The pain is very mild and only lasts for around 1 to 3 seconds and happens around 2 to 3 times a night. The pain feels like a strip going from the front to back of my head. I have noticed that it only really happens when I am tired in the evening. I have to get up for work very early and only sleep around 4 3/4 to 5 and a quarter hours a night. I have no other symptoms that accompany the headaches and pain killers seem to keep them at bay. I have looked up types of headache and mine do not really fit in with any of them, except for ice pick headaches but mine are not severe. Being a hypochondriac obviously my first thought was a brain tumor but I have none of the other symptoms of one. Are these headaches something i should be worried about? Thanks

  • Hello Jackdap

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing some headaches at the moment and that you're feeling concerned about what may be causing these.

As I'm sure you already know there could be many reasons why you've been experiencing this intermittent pain but unfortunately looking for answers online will only lead to you feeling more anxious about things.

Do speak to your GP about your concerns if things don't improve. In the meantime, you may find it useful to have a look at the NHS Moodzone website along with Anxiety UK  for some useful information and advice on managing anxiety.

    Best wishes,
