Lump on tonsil . Single mum and scared.

I'll try to be accurate and as to the point as possible but I'm afraid my head is all over the place.

So last April ( ish, it was the first lockdown) I somehow discovered a lump only tonsil. A small whiteish opaque blistery type thing about 2-3 mm. I gave it a prod nothing happened so I rang the dr just to benon the safe side. I managed to get a good photo to send in and she diagnosed tonsil stone. Few months later I had a specialist dental appointment who said it didn't look sinister but wasn't a tonsil stone. Now recently my own dentist said I should go to my gp and get a referral to ENT. So I've done that last week ( took a week plus to just have the dr call me back) I sent the GP more photos as requested but she didn't call back. And in the meantime my dentist called in person to say she'd pulled some strings spoken to the max fax part of the hospital and asked them to refer me. This had me really alarmed. Im a single mummy to a little boy I never thought I'd have, hes my miracle baby. Im beside myself with worry thinking the absolute worst. I've been stupid and Googled‍ myself into s right state. Im 40 non smoker for 10 years not a heavy drinker. No other symptoms apart from really tired ( probably due to baby)

I guess I'm here hoping someone will say its highly unlikely its the dreaded C its probably........

God that was a bit long winded. Sorry! Xx

  • Hello Timeflies80,

Try not to worry about the referral, as nine out of ten people referred in this way turn out not to have cancer. You can read more about the process here. As you know, it can be tempting to look for answers online, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better. And the only person that can diagnose you is your doctor.

Try not to worry and best wishes,
