Hodgkins Lymphoma at 19?

Hi everyone,

since my last post I have been reading about Hodgkins Lynphoma and a lot of the symptoms match what I am feeling.

Fatigue- I have become very very tired, waking up exhausted most mornings after 10 hours of sleep.

Itchy Skin- For the life of me I cannot stop itching my sides. There are now dry patches due to itching so much and I have read this is a common symptom of lymphoma :(

I don't have any swollen lymph nodes that I can feel and I also haven't experienced any night sweats. I know I can't get a diagnosis on here, but does this sound like lymphoma? Poppy X

  • Hi Poppy,

I'm sorry to read of your worries. As you say, none of us here can diagnose or offer a medical opinion unfortunately. If you have concerns, it's only your doctor who can advise - so do make an appointment if you have any medical questions, and hopefully this will help to put your mind at ease.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Never a good idea to google symptoms etc because it causes unnecessary worry. If you are seriously worried I'd recommend calling the doctors and asking for advice. If they are concerned they'll likely want to see you. Only way to find out. Hope everything is ok

  • Hi Poppy,

How are you doing? I hope you had a nice christmas and new year.

I know it's frustrating when the only answer you get is "see a doctor", but I guess for fear of giving incorrect advice that's all that anyone can say. It makes it more frustrating when going to the doctors is the thing you fear the most. My only advice to you in that respect is to bring someone with you.

In regards to your symptoms, Google is not your friend. According to Google I should have been dead years ago from all the diseases I have.

Your symptoms could be anything... they could (and most likely) also be nothing. It's also self-perpetuating. You worry so you can't sleep and now you're worried because you can't sleep... Eveyone suffers from fatigue from time to time. That's life. Life's stressful.

Itchyness... my 3 and 8 year old complain about something itching them on an almost daily basis. It's such a common complaint and could be anything... or nothing. It could be stress. It could even be your washing powder...

No one here can give you a diagnoses... but if I were a betting man I'd bet on you leaving the doctors with a big relieved smile on your face... so book an appointment.
