Waiting for call back from Colorectal Cancer Consultant.

Hi everyone,

First of all let me say this forum has provided me with so much information these last few days, thanks for that!

My Dad has had various symptoms over a short period of time and contacted his doctor. His doctor took blood samples which identified he had a high amount of Iron in his blood. He was then given an urgent referral to the cancer ward.

Just under a week ago he was asked to provide a stool sample. Off the back of the stool sample a telephone consultation has been arranged with a Colorectal Cancer Consultant / Bowel Cancer specialist.

My question is, considering the call back is from a bowel cancer specialist, does this mean that we can assume he has bowel cancer?

... also can we assume anything from it being a telephone call, might this mean we may not get some answers yet and should prepare to wait longer?

Any insight would be really helpful to us.

Thanks,

Joe

  • Sorry I can't be of more help because I'm literally going through the same thing at the moment. I too had a positive stool sample which I received by text on Sunday evening and it said I was been referred for further investigations? I'm waiting to hear from someone at the hospital along with my blood test results.

As for the telephone consultations my Mum is having one this week with her consultant due to COVID restrictions. Also when I had a breast abscess I was referred to a breast cancer specialist not because they thought I had breast cancer but because he was a breast specialist but they still wanted to rule anything sinister out. I even had an MMR scan. I hope your Dad is ok it's such a worrying time
