Found lump

Hi all.

I found a lump around 4 days ago. Never had issues with breasts before. I'm only 30 had 3 children youngest is almost 4.

Sometimes get tender around period but this is a mass on my right breast only and is actually painfull when I push in..my nipple is sort of point to the right now instead of straigh ahead. My partner also noticed the right boob is noticeably larger than left.

Due to covid no doctor will see me the now. Telephone call arranged Wednesday then he will decide to see me if he feels he needs to which he will need to as he can't possibly rule anything out without seeing. I can pinch the lump it's around the size of tangerine or golf ball size and inward from my admit to behind my nipple basically.

I know because my age he will think it's nothing however it's bothering me now and painful too

  • I am experiencing something similar in my left breast and feels even bigger( maybe paranoia) than when I first found it two weeks ago !  My doctor referred me to breast clinic over the phone so I don't see why yours can't do the same? I am 42 but that's still young surely ? Just a warning though you are normally seen within two weeks but I have been told due to backlog it will be a further two weeks... I am going crazy as I'm sure u are thinking of finding a way to go private! Hope your ok thinking of u.

  • I'd definitely get it checked out but I wouldn't worry since your ages it's most probably lipoma which is just a fatty lump under the skin they are usually around 1.5/2 inches and are painful if they press against nerves

  • Mine doesn't hurt which I know can not always be a good sign.

  • Not necessarily, nothing can be ruled out without a physical examination I suffer with bad health anxiety myself and I think the slightest things are cancer etc. I have had someone dear to me suffer from breast cancer and it wasn't just a lump under this skin it was more redness almost a rash and warmth of the area, discharge from nipples is also a common sign of breast cancer (also nipples may become sunken) you may be exhausted a lot or have weakness in the arm or leg of the affected side a lump under your armpit is very common. You may have pain or no pain the lump itself isn't painful it's more the area it's pushing against as there is blood vessels and nerves but also lipoma can be painful or unpainful but it shouldn't cause many if not any of the symptoms above just try to see a gp ASAP there are also out of hours go services at your local hospital so if you can't get an appointment with your personal gp you can contact the out of hours service. But you said you found it 2 weeks ago it may sound hard but try and keep track of the size of the lump with a ruler or something just try to be accurate every time lipoma lumps also grow just at a slower rate than tumours. I hope this helps some way best wishes to you

  • Thank you that's all very helpful I am just terrified I've missed it and now it's huge out of hours gave me 'just in case' antibiotics so everything is waiting on app at end of month unless I go private !

  • It's good to hear you've been given antibiotics as that is treatment for lipoma. If this is really playing into your everyday life I'd phone the doctor and he authoritative over the phone tell them you need to see a doctor. Alternatively you can call 111 and ask to speak to a nurse the nurse can then phone your gp and demand you are seen they are very helpful and I have had this done for me twice before when I have been unable to see a gp. Or before trying to go private you could try a telehealth consultant these can also be an option you may want to look into. If you are a non smoker and relatively healthy I wouldn't be too concerned about cancer just try not to let it take over your life because it can take a major toll on your mental health. I will keep an eye on your forums and be here for a chat if you need anything!:)

also I've read you've been asking dr google which is not a good idea because you could have a bad toe and it'll tell you that you have a blood clot also gps won't be as interested If you tell them you've been using dr google mine isn't anyway!

  • Thank you so much for your support ! I really hope it's good news I am normally so positive but am struggling on this one I was on the phone to go and breast clinic today trying to get an earlier appointment but it was a no go ! I can't wait till after Xmas I will go out of my mind !

  • I can understand your worry. Check your family history find out if there is there a history of breast cancer as it's one of the cancers that's more commonly genetic

also for stress and anxiety over this you may want to try 'kalms' it's a herbal remedy to cope with stress and anxious thoughts and can be purchased in almost every shop. 2020 has been a tough year for everyone please don't let uncertainty ruin your xmas

  • I had something similar, I'm 27 (no children) only difference was mine wasn't painful, however it did seem to appear pretty much overnight. Went and got it checked at my gp and he said it could just be a cyst but best to get it checked. But it actually turned out to be a solid lump and I got the all clear a few weeks ago that it was a fibroadenoma (benign tumour), which apparently are common in young women. Honestly the week waiting for my results was the worst week of my life, I lost half a stone (silver lining I suppose). I also get really bad anxiety and I am just a general worrier, so if you do have to go for tests / biopsies be prepared if you get anxiety, however what everyone else has said below is so true. Do not read google, even the NHS website gave me anxiety when reading because it will only briefly discuss (almost dismiss) cysts, fatty tissue, fibroadenomas and all of the other things that a lump in your boob could be. There are loads of stories on here about women who have gone for tests and end up with the unfortunate news that they do have cancer, but I've stuck around on these forums to try and give some assurance that it isn't always the case! Lots of love xx
