Hi everyone,
I'm Katie and I'm 23 years old. I recently (03/12/2020) had an aytpical mole removed from the back of my right arm.
I told my GP about this mole during a telephone consultation about something unrelated, just as it had become itchy, she asked for a picture and then referred me to dermatology on a 2WW. I went to dermatology, the consultant said he "didn't like it, could be sinister" and it is (or was) 8mm in size, black and brown with an irregular border and the consultant also said under the dermatascope there was "some streaks and variation of colour". He told me I would need it removed immediately, and it was removed about 10 minutes later.
I had my stitches out yesterday and the wound is looking great, but I'm unsure how long I should be waiting for results from histology. They did tell me at the clinic when the mole was removed but I was so shocked I really cannot remember? Will someone phone me?
I'm in two minds really should I be worried? I know my mole had several warning signs for melanoma, but then on the other hand I feel slightly naive taking the attitude "I'm 23 it can't be cancer"
Thanks for reading everyone x
